ANNUAL MUSIC INDUSTRY CONFERENCES RETURN :ESSENTIAL FOR ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IN WALES

Following its popularity in 2008, Welsh Music Foundation are once again hosting the Welsh Music Industry Days, designed to address the key issues that matter to the Welsh language music industry and beyond.
On Friday January 23 2009, the north Wales conference will take place at Galeri, Caernarfon. Four sessions will run during of the afternoon with topics covered including plugging music to radio stations, music branding and the marketing and the promotion of live events. Guest panelists include Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales), Gareth Iwan Jones (Producer, BBC Radio Cymru) and representatives from Design Wales, Creu Cymru and Community Music Wales, amongst others.
On Friday January 30 2009, the south Wales conference will take place at the Norwegian Church, Cardiff Bay. Session titles include ‘Backstage at live venues’ – a chance to hear from some of Cardiff’s newest live Venues; ‘Broadcast your music’ – which will feature a panel discussion on the ways that artists and promoters can get their music on television and other mediums; and finally, ‘DIY Music : Embracing new marketing methods’ that will evaluate and propose how newly available technology can be utilised to stand out from the crowd. Speakers from Peter Gabriel’s revolutionary company Real World and also Indiemobile are confirmed.
Delegates are welcome to pick and choose, which they attend during the Conference days, or to stay throughout. The afternoons will also feature Q&A segments – a great opportunity to have queries or individual issues addressed, and will of course serve as a great networking opportunity for delegates.
Sessions will be conducted in both the medium of English and Welsh language – translation facilities will be available.
