Welsh Language Industry Conferences

Welsh Music Foundation (WMF) held two successful conferences during January, focusing on a number of issues highlighted as important to the Welsh-Language Music Industry. The conferences were split into two days -

at Galeri, Caernarfon, and Chapter in Cardiff.

Many issues were discussed, including the hosting of live events and synchronisation of music for TV and Film at Caernarfon, while in Cardiff Welsh-language broadcasting in the 21st Century; the future of digital Music and marketing your music online were in the spotlight.

Dai Lloyd, organiser and Welsh-language Development Officer of WMF commented,
“These conferences were set up as a direct result to research carried out by us into the needs of the Welsh Language Music Industry, and we had well over 100 people attend them, with lots of positive feedback”.

The speakers, all experts in their field, came to give their advice to WMF Stakeholders and those active in the Welsh language music industry. Hefin Jones, WMF Stakeholder and owner of Tŷ Newydd, a venue on the Lleyn Peninsula said,
“It was invaluable for me to have the panel able to answer questions that would otherwise have taken me a great deal of research. All in all a very informative and interesting day.”

Another Stakeholder, Steve Balsamo of band The Storys, who attended the Cardiff event added why the event was worthwhile to him,
“All speakers were very informative and experts in their field – it was invaluable advice and good to meet other likeminded artists and labels”
