WMF: Music Lawyer Access Scheme
Date Posted: 30th April 2010

WMF is pleased to announce a new scheme to assist Welsh music enterprises that require the services of a professional music industry lawyer. The scheme offers seven hours of specialist legal advice including, where appropriate, one face-to-face meeting with a music industry lawyer. Successful applicants can either select a music lawyer from a list and get access to the service for free, or nominate a different lawyer (although the applicant will have to pay the difference).
The lawyers participating in the scheme are all experienced in different areas of the music industry, having represented established artists, labels, publishers and management companies.
To apply you must be WMF Stakeholder (a music enterprise based in Wales) and carry out the majority of your business in Wales. You must either have a ‘deal on the table’ or at the point in a professional relationship when a contract has to be drafted to protect investment to date.
The places available on this scheme are very limited. Priority will go to those applicants that will benefit most from the services offered by the scheme. The scheme intends to support the retention and exploitation of intellectual property in line with the Welsh Assembly Government’s Strategy for the Creative Industries.
