WOMEX 2010 - Funding package available

Womex - the World Music Expo is, as UNESCO - Global Alliance for Cultural Diversity declared,
“The most important international professional market of world music of every kind. This international fair brings together professionals from the worlds of folk, roots, ethnic and traditional music and also includes concerts, conferences and documentary films. It contributes to networking as an effective means of promoting music and culture of all kinds across frontiers.”
This year, Womex takes place in Copenhagen from Wednesday 27 - Sunday 31 October 2010.
WMF will be offering export-ready companies based in Wales a grant towards attending. The funding package of up to the value of £500 will be available, per company, which is equal to approximately 50% of the cost of a delegate's pass and 50% of accommodation and flights. This is redeemable upon return from Womex, but copies of receipts must be provided. This funding is a grant and so does not include VAT. The support is limited and only export-ready music companies will be eligible.

Wales' presence at Womex is set to be bigger than ever this year. Wales Arts International and WMF are also working together to present the first ever dedicated showcase of music from Wales at the expo. The three acts chosen to perform, and further details, will be announced shortly.
