To celebrate the considerable strides it has taken in developing the music industry across Wales in the past decade, Welsh Music Foundation is organising a two day (10-11th September 2010) programme of events at Wales Millennium Centre.

Friday night sees the foyer transformed into a free, all age concert sponsored by PRS for Music.  Rock royalty Future of the Left, North Wales’ Too Pure Singles Club released We//Are//Animal and BBC Radio 1-championed duel bass bad-asses Exit International will be trying their darnedest to blow up a full sound rig. Radio One’s Bethan Elfyn will the the compere for the evening.

The first come ‘til full capacity gig is preceded by an invite-only reception curated by Green Man.  The Brecon festival, which sold out three months in advance this year, is set to bring the magic of the festival - complete with Astroturf, portaloos and bunting - to Wales Millennium Centre, with Head of UK Music and man behind the song ‘Teenage Kicks’, Feargal Sharkey set to speak.

Friday’s events form part of a wider programme, including seminars run by industry experts covering how rights holders and music companies can raise investment and make money in coming years, exploring issues of intellectual property and the implications of ‘bedroom’ recording on the profession.

Lisa Matthews from the Welsh Music Foundation said: “It’s really important that we have the infrastructure in place to encourage people to invest in music here – be that from enabling independent promoters’ access to relevant authorities or helping people to promote their music. We wanted to mark our tenth year with an event that would really showcase what we do in our work with representatives across the board, and celebrate by bringing it back to what it’s all about – enjoying music.”

More free music is still to be announced for Saturday 11th September.  Watch this space for details. The seminars are open to registration and free to attend for music practitioners at all levels. For more information, visit: www.wmfis10.com or call 02920 494110
