Some dream of building empires, we work with building blocks. Part of WMFs work is to develop a simple step-by-step process towards the development of a music industry in Wales.
What are we on about? OK, here’s one example:-
We worked to bring The Barfly chain to the city. It was a small venue with a big reputation that put Cardiff on the UK touring map. It complimented rather than competed against the city’s existing live music scene, gave new bands the opportunity to play with more established acts and attracted much-valued media attention to the city’s live scene.
Every area of Wales will have it’s own challenges. There are towns with plenty of bands and no rehearsal spaces or venues with a dearth of promoters - these are all building blocks which need to be put in place to allow the process of making music happen.
