Training & Education
Hands up those who think that there's a surfeit of academic courses specialising in music business-related subjects...
No, we don't either. It's stating the obvious that developing excellent specialist skills in Wales is the best way forward for students and businesses alike.
Currently, WMF is working in partnership with providers of higher education in Wales to create and develop courses that will deliver these skills. We are proud to offer the ‘Music Business Management’ training programme that is run in conjunction with Creative & Cultural Skills.
This Business Development Programmewill provide the attendees 'time out' to analyse and explore the reality of developing independent music businesses in today's industry, with a view to making clear cut decisions about their business and practice to achieve practical personal and business objectives.
The Programme, which takes place in Cardiff between November '06 and March '07, consists of 10 modules. Each module is a 'stand alone' event, focusing on specific issues and their implications, barriers to business development, opportunities and alternative actions. Collectively they cover a comprehensive range of subjects and issues, all vital to understand in today's ever-changing marketplace. This is the first time such a programme has been run in Wales.
Previously, WMF has been involved in the following events in Wales:
- March 2004: Sound Advice Roadshow in association with BPI and AIM
- July 2004: Summer School: ‘Making Money out of Music’
